My work explores intimate relationships between people and their immediate environments. From memory, I create images of the seemingly everyday in which humans, animals, and objects interact with one another and with the spaces around them.
I am interested in how we live in a world that both connects and separates us. Motifs such as houses, windows, trees, and clouds appear in my work as symbols of transition and barriers at once. They point to inner and outer spaces that we share, protect, or close off – visible and invisible lines that enable or prevent closeness. In this way, my practice reflects on what it means to live with boundaries – to maintain them or to cross them, to accept or to transform them – in a world that simultaneously divides and binds us together.
Through drawing, painting, and printmaking I seek to process the hidden and the unspoken: habits, conventions, and non-verbal rules that shape our daily lives. I imbue figures, objects, and environments with equal weight, gradually building a lexicon of personal signs.
